A Stroke of Fate New Secrets Revealed

Part #1

Gameplay assassination plots vs authentic conspiracy plans. Which ones are more effective?

A Stroke of Fate, Akella’s new adventure that’s in the works of Spline development studio, offers you a unique opportunity to wear the shoes of a secret agent that is tasked to prepare Adolf Hitler’s assassination. A stock adventure at first blush? Not at all. That’s a unique experience of trying to change the course of history. Just ask yourself what could have happened if things had gone in a completely different way…

To let you delve into the depths of these assumptions and guesses, we got an in-depth look at the historical feature of the game.

There’ll be several assassination plots planned during the game as the storyline unfolds around Mayer’s sincere denial of the current fascist regime.

Year 1944, summer

The first plot dates back to 20 July, 1944. The real history takes us to Colonel Claus Philipp Maria Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg who agreed to carry out the assassination of the German Führer. The attempt after several trials by Stauffenberg to meet Hitler did, through chance, ultimately take place at a briefing center at the military high command in Eastern Prussia called Wolfsschanze. The Colonel came to the place with a briefcase containing two small bombs. After some minutes he excused himself, pretending to need to make an urgent phone call to Berlin, and left the meeting room. He waited nearby for the explosion and what he saw made him believe that Hitler should be dead.

Although four people were killed and almost all present were injured, Hitler himself was injured only slightly as he was shielded from the blast by the table.

Who helped Stauffenberg implement that, who prepped the explosives…we have our own explanation to the facts described in the history. The first chapter of A Stroke of Fate is evolving the story and features Mayer’s deep involvement in the plot described. We are not changing the authentic events, we are asking ourselves whether something could have been done to alter the course of history.

Year of 1944, winter

A true fact: Adolf Hitler was staying in Ziegenberg. To the casual observer, the only thing distinguishing this farm village from dozens like it in the Wetterau region of central Germany was its 1740s-era castle. Unknown to the villagers and to Allied Military Intelligence as well, behind the castle there was a compound made up of seven buildings giving the appearance of an innocent grouping of wooden country cottages. The name Hitler gave to this compound was Adlerhorst (Eagle's eyrie).

In A Stroke of Fate Mayer will try another assassination attempt right there.

Again, explosives will be involved. What was the attempt, how Mayer was engaged in Mueller’s disappearance (there are several official versions of his disappearance, we assume the one which, as we believe, might be quite close to the real truth), why it was so important to Hitler to keep the legendary Spear of Destiny and why it was so important to Mayer in A Stroke of Fate to deliver it to the Allies, and what lies behind the mysterious death of Adolf Hitler, Eva Braun and their favorite dog Blondi? We aren’t going to hide any truth from you – be that authentic and historical or fictional and in-game. Be on the lookout for the second part of A Stroke of Fate New Secrets Revealed feature.

A Stroke of Fate New Secrets Revealed

Part #2

Authenticity versus fiction: historical curiosity or an attempt to avoid future mistakes?

Mystery has always surrounded wars and their champions; every step that someone makes as he wages the war is then judged by contemporaries and descendants. Sometimes, correct and just. Often, wrong. Who knows what was on Adolf Hitler’s mind as he woke up on 30 April 1945? What happened to Müller just one day earlier and why were the Nazis so committed to searching for powerful relics and sacred items?

Some may say these events took place so long ago, so why should we care, why not just let these things stay in the past, it's a historical curiosity now. But there are people who believe the torturing of people, all the atrocities under Hitler and the Nazis, they cannot be forgotten and nor should they be, because as one person put it, "who knows how many Hitlers are out there now, and should be stopped before they ever get under way?"

Year 1945, spring

Hitler believed in his superiority. Why was that? There was a very powerful item that could allegedly change life of its holder. I mean the Spear of Destiny. Also known as the Spear of Longinus and the Holy Lance, it is one of the most important Christian relics. The Spear was used by a Roman soldier to pierce the side of Christ as he hung on the cross. The Spear, bathed in the blood of the Lamb and playing a significant role in the fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy, is believed to have acquired tremendous mystical power. It passed through a multitude of hands coming to Hitler in 1938. He truly believed in a legend which said that whoever claimed the Spear "holds the destiny of the world in his hands for good or evil".

A Stroke of Fate continues the story featuring a probable conclusion. The Spear was stolen from Hitler. It was found by American forces on the afternoon of April 30, 1945, less than two hours before Hitler’s suicide in his underground bunker in Berlin. Who brought the Spear so close to the Allied Forces, how Mayer managed to penetrate into the sacred hiding-place – we have our own answer to these questions.

29 April, 1945

Heinrich Müller, the Head of the Gestapo, has played a tremendous role in the German reality and in a fictional setting of A Stroke of Fate. He was Hitler’s faithful brother-in-arms but mysteriously disappeared just a day before his fuehrer allegedly committed suicide. There are several versions explaining why and how Müller escaped a usual Fate that most Hitler’s supporters had to face…

  1. He was killed trying to leave Berlin. Hmm, escape all the hazards and die…too easy and light-minded for such a personality

  2. He moved to South America (just like Eichmann who, by the way, was captured while Müller’s trace has never been detected).

  3. Moved to the USA and worked for the CIA.

  4. Moved to the USSR and worked for NKVD (Soviet secret police).

Well, our view featured in A Stroke of Fate is quite obvious. Mayer did a hard job penetrating Hitler’s minions and just couldn’t let Müller go. Hitler’s pilot quoted Müller as saying "We know the Russian methods exactly". Do you?
